Telangana businessman’s burnt body found in Karnataka, three arrested for murder

The police arrested three individuals suspected of involvement in the brutal murder of a Telangana businessman. The arrest came nearly three weeks after a charred body was discovered on October 8 in Suntikoppa area of Kodagu district, which set off an intense investigation that ultimately led to the arrest of the three suspects.
According to the police, the main suspect, 29-year-old Niharika from Telangana, is alleged to have orchestrated the murder of the businessman, identified as 54-year-old Ramesh. Niharika was said to have murdered the real estate businessman, whom she had married reportedly for financial gain.
Police reports suggested that despite being married to Ramesh, Niharika entered into a relationship with a veterinarian, Nikhil. She conspired with Nikhil and another associate, Ankur, from Haryana to kill Ramesh.
Together, the trio allegedly planned and carried out Ramesh’s murder to seize his property and wealth.
The investigation began with the discovery of a charred body in a tea estate near Suntikoppa. The Kodagu police had a challenging time as evidence was limited due to the extent of the damage to the body.
Kodagu’s Superintendent of Police, Ramarajan, reported that surveillance efforts quickly turned up clues. According to him, extensive tracking of 500 CCTV cameras across multiple locations, helped investigators trace the suspects, when a surveillance video showed a suspicious red Benz near the scene.
Ramarajan stated: “The case was challenging as the body was completely charred, leaving almost no evidence at the scene. However, our team’s extensive surveillance efforts ultimately led to the capture of those responsible.”
According to the police, Ramesh was strangled near Hyderabad before the suspects travelled in his car to his apartment, where they allegedly stole cash and critical property documents. The suspects then drove to Bengaluru, bought petrol, and transported the body to Kodagu, where they set it on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.
The Kodagu police, in coordination with authorities across regions, acted swiftly, and the suspects were taken into custody.
Further investigations were ongoing, as the police continued to collect evidence regarding the motive and exact details of the crime.
